Developing the Iraqi Government’s Knowledge & Expertise in Migration Management (IMED)

Baghdad, Iraq: On 25th March we held the kick-off meeting for our project “Developing the Iraqi Government’s Knowledge & Expertise in Migration Management (IMED)”. The purpose of the meeting was to mark the official implementation of the IMED Project and introduce beneficiary ministry members to the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) and ICMPD.

IMED aims to engage key decision makers from multiple ministries in Iraq in order to forge solid and future-orientated migration partnerships with European counterparts (with an initial focus on Switzerland). The ultimate aim is to bring Iraqi governmental institutions onto the same wavelength as European counterparts when it comes to migration cooperation. The project is envisaged to facilitate and strengthen the institutional capacities of the Government of Iraq in addressing its migration challenges, as well as developing coherent and sound migration policies.

This activity is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration and implemented by International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
