Description: The purpose of the Budapest Process Working Group on the Silk Routes Region is to address specific thematic issues of importance for the Silk Routes Region. During the period (2014-2016) the meetings of this Working Group are held in support of the project “Support to the Silk Routes Partnership for Migration under the Budapest Process”. The Working Group will in this period deal with the six thematic priority areas established through the Istanbul Ministerial Declaration on a Silk Routes Partnership for Migration. The purpose is – through exchange of information, experience, best practices and know-how – to establish priorities for implementation of the Silk Routes Partnership in this field. The meeting will also be used to take stock of progress of the above-mentioned project and developments in the Silk Routes countries. This meeting will deal with the fourth and fifth priority areas namely to
– “Prevent and counteract irregular migration, facilitate return and readmission of irregular migrants, and combat criminal networks involved in smuggling of migrants” and to
– “Prevent and combat trafficking in persons, address its root causes and provide adequate protection and support to trafficked persons”.
